Indiscriminate sand lifting: 16 dolphins died in Halda River in 3 months

The only natural fish breeding area, Halda river across the country is now on the verse of ruination due to indiscriminate fishing, illegally sand lifting and abnormal plying of engine boats.
 Our Raozan Correspondent said in last three months, 16 dolphins died with hits of engine profiler of engine boats and mechaned hit by dredgers high powered engine during discriminate sand lifting from the river .
On Saturday , a big size boal fish was seen floating in the water which died by the hits of engine profiler of boats or dredgers.
 A fisherman of Garduara Village informed the local UP member about the floating of ‘Boal’ fish which was later handed over to local administration.
 According to local, similar two large size fishes were also found in the river on floating condition.
Conscious circles observed that if the dolphins are not saved, the Halda River will be free from dolphin very shortly as well the natural fish breeding centre will be ruined gradually.
 Concerned authorities should keep alerts about the indiscriminate sand lifting and unauthorised plying of engine boats otherwise great aquamarine sources will be damaged for ever, local sources observed.
Woman killed over land dispute : A woman was killed in a clash of two opposite groups over land dispute at Patiya upazila this afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Jaynob, 45, was a heart disease patient. Sheikh M Neyamat Ullah, Officer-in-Charge of Patiya Police Station confirmed the news.
He said there is a four storied building in the sadar area in the upazila. This yesterday afternoon two opposite groups had a clash over boundary wall, woman was present.
Suddenly she fell down and local people brought her to Local hospital while on duty doctors declared him dead.
Doctors suspected that she might die after a heart attack. The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital and after an autopsy report it will be clear the reason.
After the incident, Local people try to block the road but police disagree to do that, OC added.
