Sixteen areas in Dhaka city have been considered as ‘Red Zone’ for Covid-19.
According to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), over 100 coronavirus patients have already been detected in those risky areas.
Local administrations have put the areas under lockdown.
The first Covid-19 patient was detected in the country on March 8. Since then, the number of cases rose to
1,572 and deaths to 60 in last one month and nine days till Thursday (April 16).
According to the IEDCR, there are some 26 patients are in Wari, 20 in Mohammadpur, 19 each in Tolarbagh and Jatrabari, 18 each in Dhanmondi and Lalbagh, 17 in Uttara, 16 in Tejgaon, 14 in Basabo, 13 in Gandaria, 11 each in Mirpur-11 and Babu Bazar and 10 each in Moghbazar, Mohakhali, Mirpur-12 and Green Road.
Besides, some 518 cases have been reported in 98 areas including of Banani, Gulshan, Badda, Azimpur, Adabor, Nakhalpara, Razarbagh and Jhigatala.
Calling upon the country people to stay at home, the IEDCR said Dhaka is most vulnerable for spreading coronavirus after Narayanganj.
