Border Guard Bangladesh men on Wednesday evening arrested a total of 16 Bangladeshis from Putkhali frontier under Benapole port police station while they were going to India illegally, said Apurba Hasan, officer in-charge, Benapole port police station.
Of the arrested, 12 are men of whom two are over 80 years, three women and a 9-month baby.
The officer in-charge said the BGB men of 23 Border Guard Battalion made the arrest while they were going to India without having legal documents. ‘They were going to India for treatments, business and tourism purposes’, he added.
The arrested were sent to Jessore court on Thursday, the OC added.
