15- point security steps taken on Barisal-Dhaka route passengers, vessels

Fifteen point security measures including using of CCTV camera, selling cabin tickets after taking copy of national identity card, special securities at engine rooms, stopping black marketing of cabin tickets were taken to ensure safety and security of the Barisal-Dhaka route passengers and vessels .
Name and mobile phone number of the cabin passengers would be written on ticket and checked with enclosed copy of NID, it was decided.
These were decided at a meeting between the officials of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority, Launches Owners Association and law enforcing agencies at BIWTA office in Barisal Port on Wednesday evening.
The meeting was presided over by Gulzar Hossain, Joint Director BIWTA and Barisal River Port officer and it was addressed among others by Golam Rouf Khan, Deputy Commissioner (South) Barisal Metropolitan Police, Abul Bashar Majumdar, Deputy Director (River Safety and Traffic), Akhtar Hossain Akej and leaders of Launch Owners Association.
In the meeting expressing anxieties over the attempt of torching Dhaka- bound launch cabins on Tuesday night, stressed on taking more security measures including using CCTV camera and video snaps during boarding passengers on launches and preventing selling of Ansar and crew cabin seats, ticket blackings.
The port authority and law enforcing officials also said that all will use two of the four gates to enter inside port area by introducing one-way traffic system with round the clock deployment of law enforcers.
