Fifteen members of notorious forest dacoit gang of Sundarban ‘Chhoto Razu Bahini’ surrendered with arms ammunitions at RAB Unit-8 Headquarter in Rupatali area of Barisal on Thursday.
In the programme, they also handed over different types of 21 fire arms and 1237 rounds ammunitions to the law enforcing agency.
The surrendered 15 miscreants were : Razu Molla alias Chhoto Razu, the leader of the gang active since 2012 in the area, Monirul Islam, Sirajul Islam Gazi, Afzal Hossain, Harun Sardar, Billal Gazi alis Magic Billal,Khatib Gazi, Mikail Gazi, Kamrul Sardar, Farhad Sardar, Salam Gazi, Milon Sheikh, Farhad Gazi, Sabbir Sheikh and Monirul Gazi Moni , members of the gang.
They were active in Sharonkhola, Chandpai Range, Mongla, Harbaria, Vandra, Poshur Jumar Rivers and coastal belt of Bay of Bengal and Sundarban forest region. They surrendered pirates were natives of different areas of Bagerhut, Khulna and Jessore districts, said Major Adnan, deputy commander and media spokesman of RAB-8.
Besides, this surrendered gang 92 members of nine pirate gangs of Sundarban forest region surrendered before the law enforcers with 195 fire arms, 10,143 rounds ammunitions in last ten months, informed Major Adnan added.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was Chief Guest of the programme presided over by Lt. Col. Anowar-Uz Zaman, Commanding Officer of RAB-8.
Among others Dr. Kamal Uddin Ahmed, senior secretary, Abdul Hannan, additional secretary of home ministry, Benazir Ahmed, director eneral of RAB, Maruf Hasan DIG of Barisal range, S M Ruhul Amin,Police Commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police, Dr. Gazi Md. Saifuzzaman,DC of Barisal also present in the programme.
