A total of 148 Bangladeshis-stranded in different places in Libya-returned to Dhaka by a special flight on Wednesday morning.
The flight carrying the Bangladeshis landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) around 9:30am on Wednesday, said Shariful Hasan, head of Brac Migration Programme.
The flight also carried bodies of seven Bangladeshis, who died in Libya at different times, he said.
Fakhrul Islam, assistant director of Expatriate Welfare Desk at Dhaka airport, told The Daily Star that the Bangladeshis entered Libya via Dubai, Turkey and Egypt at different times.
During inquiry, they admitted that they went to Libya for migrating to Europe, Fakhrul said.
Among the returnees, 10 landed with deportee cards, he added.
The flight carrying the Bangladeshis left Benina Airport of Libya at 6:00pm on Tuesday.
A team of Brac with the help of expatriate welfare desk provided them food and other assistance at the airport, said Brac official Shariful Hasan.
International Organization for Migration (IOM) also provided financial support to the Bangladeshis.
