14 SIU students expelled for threatening teachers

The authority of Sylhet International University (SIU) temporarily has expelled 14 students for giving death threat to some teachers and officials.
The decision was taken at an emergency Syndicate meeting of the university on Wednesday.
The expelled students are : Sumon Sutradhar, Abul Hasnat Shuva, Saiful Alam Rahel, Abdul Kader Jebu, Himel Das, Avit Roy Jhalak, Alamgir Hossain Khan and Krishan Biswas of Business Administration department, Rubal Mia and Aktaruzzaman Eman of Law department, Zafar Ahmed of English department and Razu Pathan and Hawnan Ahmed of Computer Science and Engineering department.
Show cause notices were also served upon the expelled students and a four-member probe body was formed to investigate the incident.
Campus source said, the accused students swooped on the university proctor Mahbub Ibne Siraj and six other teachers as they intercepted them from taking toll from general students in the name of arranging a programme.
