14 more die, highest 887 COVID-19 infections in a day in BD

Bangladesh on Sunday logged record 887 novel coronavirus infections in last 24 hours while 14 more people died of COVID-19 during the period.
“With the cases, the death toll reached to 228 and the number of infections now stand at 14,657 in the country,” said Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in the daily online bulletin on the COVID-19 situation in Dhaka.
Dr. Sultana said, 236 patients of Covid-19 have recovered around the country in the last 24 hours. The total recovery number now stands at 2,650.
Among the latest fatalities, 10 were men and four women, according to DGHS data.
The DGHS official said that total 5,738 samples were tested at 36 authorised laboratories across the country during that period.
Dr. Sultana asked the people to follow social distancing and other health manner and stay home during the lockdown. She advised to wash hands with soap frequently.
Over 4.02 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 279,345 have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
Data shows that infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December last year.
