14 illegal billboards removed in Ctg

The Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) in cooperation with Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) in a joint drive removed 14 illegal billboards from Chittagong WASA area on Thursday.
The eviction drive began from city’s WASA intersection around 10 am in presence of high officials of CMP and CCC and concluded at 4 pm today.
The drive led by Chittagong Metropolitan police commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondol.
Earlier, CCC in a meeting handed over a list of some 422 illegal billboards to the CMP commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondol in the middle of last month.
CCC sources said the CCC authority formed a 52-member team for identification and removal of the illegal billboards.
CMP drive continues
Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) continued its eviction drive against illegal billboards in the city on the fourth day yesterday. During the drive, a team of CMP pulled down the oldest and ever largest billboard in Garibullah Shah Mazar area. It was a neon sign billboard which had connection with 11KV electric line. Some 900 square feet in length, the billboard was erected in 2006 by Add Garden, an advertising company owned by Sanat Barua, an activist of the Awami League’s youth wing Jubo League. Two more billboards of 600 sft in length each were also pulled down in the same area, which were owned by Arshadul Alam Bachchu, another activist of the Jubo League.
