134 BNP-Jamaat men among 737 held in 5 dists

Law enforcers in separate drives arrested 737 people, including 134 BNP and Jamaat-Shibir activists, from Bogra, Chapainawabganj, Satkhira, Faridpur and Chittagong districts on Friday and Saturday.
In Chittagong, police in drive arrested 481 people, including 24 Jamaat-Shibir activists, from different upazilas on early Saturday.
Mohammad Naimul Hasan, additional Police super of Chittagong Police, said police arrested 22 Jamaat-shibir men from Satkania upazila and 2 from Sitakundu upazila.
They were accused in sabotage cases.
Police also recovered two pistols, 6 rounds of bullet, 1500 pieces of Yaba tablets and other drugs from the possession of other arrestees.
In Bogra, Police conducted separate drives in different parts of the district from Friday 6 am to Saturday 6 am and arrested 75 people, including 20 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.
Harun-or-Rashid, former ameer of Dhanut upazila unit Jamaat, Afsar Uddin, former secretary of Sherpur upazila unit Jamaat, 12 leaders and activists of Jamaat and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir and five activists of BNP were among the arrestees.
Besides, police also recovered 12 crude bombs, one pistol, nine rounds of bullets, seven sharp weapons, 300 bottles of Phensidyl and 80 pieces of Yaba tablets from the other 55 arrestees.
