The officials of Customs Intelligence & Investigation Department(CIID) seized 130 pieces of gold bar weight 15 kgs 163 grams from a passenger of Air Arabia flight arrived at Shah Amanat Interntional Airport, Chattogram from Sharjah, UAE early this morning .
The passenger of Air Arabia identified as Md.Jainal who was detained alongwith the gold bars.UAE expatriate Md. Jamal hails from Gopalgata village under Fatikchari Upazila of the district and son of one Nurul Hoque.
Airport Manager Wing Commander Sarwar-e-Jahan told that suspecting the movement of the passenger, his luggage was checked and detected these gold bar inside the torch light . Case under trafficking act against the passenger is under process, he added. Deputy commissioner of Customs, Chattogram Customs House Md. Sirajul Islam told that the estimated cost of these sized gold is about Tk. 6 crore.
