At least 13 leaders and activists of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front were injured as Bangladesh Chhatra League men attacked them at Murari Chand (MC) College in Sylhet city yesterday afternoon.
Over 50 BCL men led by the college unit BCL leader Delwar Hossain made the attack when Samajtantrik Chhatra Front (SCF) men brought out a procession on the college campus marking its anniversary, witnesses told our Sylhet Correspondent.
SCF Sylhet city unit President Rejaur Rahman Rana, its General Secretary Rubaiyat Ahmed Ruba, MC College unit convener Sadia Noshin Tasnim, Member Secretary Al Amin and nine other activists were injured in the attack, the leaders of the student front of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal claimed.
The BCL men attacked their procession which was prescheduled for marking the founding anniversary of the organisation, said SCF Sylhet city unit President Rejaur Rahman Rana. “The procession was not organised for protest of the BCL attack at Dhaka University,” he added.
Akhter Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shahporan Police Station, said they were investigating the matter.
