Atleast 13 persons including two bank officials received burn injuries during inspecting firing of a brick kiln at Taluukdarhat area under Bandar Thana of Barisal Metropolitan Police on Thursday night.
Eleven of the injured were admitted in Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital with burn injuries at about 7:30 pm Thursday night
Reazul Islam, Bandar police station officer in charge and local sources said owner of the SSB brick field arranged a Milad Mahfil for starting burner of the modern jig-jag-kiln financed by Al Arafa Bank after Magrib prayer on Thursday evening.
Completing the milad when the burner switched on a blast occurred with flame injuring 13 including owner, bank officials and the guests.
The injured were rushed to SBMCH and 11 of them admitted there with burn injuries.
The admitted injured at SBMCH were Abdur Rob, owner of the brick field, Mustafizur Rahman, manager of Al Baraka Bank Barisal branch, Ziaur Rahman officer of the same bank, Shahabuddin Khokon, ex chairman of Charamuddi union, Khalek Haoladar, Helal Hosen, Ripon Bepari, Mijanur Rahman, Rezaul Kobir, guests of the programme, Hasan, Aslam Ali, workers of the kiln.
