A total of 13 flights have so far been cancelled on Saturday and several others delayed due to rough weather triggered by cyclone Fani, which is crossing over the country.
The flights for Dhaka-Chattogram BG 413 and Chattogram-Dhaka BG 414 routes were cancelled while the Dhaka-Kolkata flight BG 091 was delayed till 3:30pm, said Shakil Meraj, General Manager (public relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Meanwhile, private airline Novo Air on Saturday cancelled eight flights on Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Jashore and Kolkata routes and delayed 16 other flights due to rough weather, said Mesbah Ul Islam, head of Marketing and Sales of the airline.
Regent Airways has cancelled its Dhaka-Kolkata flight, said an official of the airways.
Also, US-Bangla Airlines cancelled its Dhaka-Syedpur flight and delayed its Dhaka-Kolkata flight till this afternoon, said Kamrul Islam, General Manager of Marketing and Sales of the airlines.
The country is experiencing heavy rains and thunder shower under the influence of the cyclone Fani.
