124th Lalon Tirodhan Dibosh observed in Kushtia

The 124th Lalon Tirodhan Dibosh, one of the largest cultural festivals of the country ended on 20th October 2014 starting from 16th October.
This gigantic fair was first organised 100 years ago to observe the death anniversary of legendary BAUL Music king “Fakir Lalon Shah” in the 3rd week of October each year.
Lalon Shah is the icon of Baul music in all over Bangladesh and India. He is being considered not just the most recognizable baul icon, but the founder of the baul religion. After hundred years of celebrations, this event now has become a scope of reunion & entertainment for all classes of people. To celebrate the event, hundreds of bauls as well as thousands of mass people from all over the country gather in the Lalon Complex situated at Cheuria, Kumar Khali, Kushtia.
This was the 8th consecutive time that Banglalink is sponsoring this prestigious event. “Lalon Academy” and “DC Office Kushtia” are the proud organizers of this 5-daylong event.
Mr. Abdus Samad, Divisional Comissioner, Khulna concluded the programme as the Chief Guest. Proloy Chisim, Police Super, Kushtia; Mr. Khandaker Ashik Iqbal, Senior Assistant Manager, Marketing, Banglalink were also present as the special Guests in the event. Mr. Syed Belal Hossain, District Commissioner & Chairman, Lalon Academy, Kushtia presided over the last day event.
The festival is a common platform where mass people from all age, race, and religion and income level participate. Not only the participants but also devotees from the whole country and foreign nations will be there.
Over a span of 5 days the festival will include a folk music competition among the bauls, musical concert with the participation of famous artists, trade fair etc. As per the local sources, during the event more than 2 Lac visitors will attend!
