12 including a pregnant woman injured in Chitalmari clash

At least 12 persons including a pregnant woman were injured when an armed clash took place between two rival groups of people at the village Paranpur under Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat over the expansion of supremacy in the locality recently .
Being informed of the matter police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. In this connection both the groups gave statements opposed to each other.
Eye-witnesses said, on Friday when the Musallies came out from Rahamatpur Purbopara Jame mosque after saying the Jumma prayer a clash took place between the followers of local Badsha Mir (Master) and Latif Mir following the previous enmity. In the clash at least 12 persons of both the groups were injured. They are Rubel Mir (35), Rumel Mir (30), Jamila Begum (55), Raihan Mir (15), Rumi Begum (25) and Rahaman Mir (60) belonging to Latif group and Badsha Master (55), Alamgir Shaikh (35), Dublu Shaikh (40), Runu Begum (35), Jahangir Shaikh (30), and Iqbal Shaikh ((25) belonging to Latif group. The injured persons were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital and the adjacent Tungipara Hospital (in Gopalganj district) for their treatment.
Badshha Shaikh, President of Kalatala Union Awami League told, Latif Mir is a high-breed leader. He was not invited to a wedding ceremony. As a result, he became furious and attacked the followers of Badsha Master. As a result, 5/6 persons including a woman were injured.
On the other hand, Anukul Sarkar, Officer-in-charge of Chitalmari PS told, Badsh Mir and Latif Mir are cousins. 2 persons were injured when a clash took place between their supporters.
