Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) on Friday recovered 12 gold bars weighing 1.334 kg worth Tk 66, 70,000 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the city.
Seven passengers who came from Saudi Arabia were identified as Kamal Hossain, Ahsan, Saiful Islam, Akhter Hossain, Abul, Ruhul Amin and
Mintu. They were carrying those gold bars and were detected while crossing the green channel at HSIA.
Besides, CIID recovered 520 cartons of ESSE Light cigarettes from baggage belt area. Those cartons were carried in four bags and left abundant there. These cigarettes are worth Tk 41, 60,000.
CIID has taken legal actions under Customs Law on the recovered gold and cigarettes.
