12 deaths in Rajshahi, 10 in Khulna 160 Corona positive in C’nawabganj

Twelve more Covid patients died in the past 24 hours at Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH), health officials said on Thursday.
Of the deceased, nine hailed from Rajshahi district while three belonged to Chapainawabganj district, Deputy Director of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital, Dr Saiful Ferdous, said.
Of the 12 people,Dr Saiful said, seven had tested positive for Covid-19 while the others were admitted to Rajshahi Hospital with coronavirus symptoms.
Currently,b142 patients from Rajshahi, 111 from Chapainawabganj, 15 from Naogaon, 15 from Natore, three from Pabna, three from Kushtia and one from Chuadanga are undergoing treatment in the corona unit of Rajshahi hospital.
On June 2, Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil announced the administration’s decision to impose restrictions in the district to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission.
UNB adds: As many as 10 Covid patients have died in the past 24 hours in Khulna division, a top health official said on Thursday.
During the period, some 557 people have tested positive for Covid-19, according to the Director of Health Services Division, Khulna.
According to the Khulna Division Directorate General of Health Services, two people died in Khulna district, four in Bagerhat, two in Kushita and one in Jashore district.
Dr Suhash Ranjan Haldar, nodal person for corona unit, said nine people have died at Khulna Corona Hospital since June 1, while 130 patients are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Of them, 62 people are getting treatment in the red zone of the hospital, 29 in the yellow zone, 18 in ICU (intensive care unit), and 21 in HDU (high deficiency unit), he said. Sheikh Sadia Monwara Usha, medical officer at Khulna Civil Surgeon’s Office, said that 80 people have been found infected in Khulna district after testing 331 samples in the past 24 hours, while three people have died from the virus. The infection rate in the district is 24 percent.
In Khulna division, the first case of Covid-19 was detected in Chuadanga on March 19, 2020.
So far, 37,512 people have been found infected with the virus in 10 districts of the division, while the death toll from the virus mounted to 690. A total of 32,419 people have recovered from the virus to date.
According to the health authorities, Khulna district is one of the worst-hit in terms of cases and deaths in the division, as a total of 10,979 people have been found infected with Covid-19 to date. And 191 people have died so far from the virus in the district.
Bagerhat has so far recorded 1,918 Covid cases and 51 deaths. Some 1,462 people have recovered from the virus.
Similarly, Satkhira has recorded 2,109 cases and 48 deaths to date, while 1,500 people have recovered from the virus.
Jashore has so far recorded 7,699 Covid cases and 84 deaths. Narail has logged 1,956 cases with 27 fatalities.
In Magura, 1,292 people have been found infected with the virus and 23 people have died so far.
In Jhenaidah, the number of Covid-19 cases in the district has touched 3,010. Some 57 people have died so far.
In Kishtia, about 5,321 people have been found infected with the virus while 122 people have died to date.
Meanwhile, one person has died while 158 others have tested positive for Covid in the past 24 hours in Chapainawabganj district, officials said on Thursday morning, reports UNB.
Chapainawabganj Civil Surgeon Dr Zahid Nazrul Chowdhury said the samples of 823 people were tested for Covid. “Of them, the results of 158 people have emerged positive.”
With this, a total of 2,976 people have been found infected with the virus in the district to date. Also, 62 people have so far died from Covid-19 in the district. So far, 1,464 people have recovered.
On Tuesday, after the end of a 14-day strict lockdown in Chapainawabganj district, the local administration imposed restrictions on public movement to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission.
The new restrictions will remain in force till June 16.
