Twelve-day Eid special service with 15 triple-deck private launches on Barisal-Dhaka -Barisal route will be started on July 14 on ( today ) from Dhaka-end and on July 15 from Barisal executing increased ‘festival fare’ chart in comparison of the normal period.
The launches are MV Surovi 7, 8 and 9, MV Sundarban 7, 8 and 9, MV Parabat 2, 9, 10 and 11, MV Kirtonkhola 1 and 2, MV Tipu 7, MV Kalam Khan 1 and MV Dwipraj.
Besides more triple-deck vessels will ply connecting Jhalakathi, Barguna and Patuakhali via Barisal port and at least two vessels would be reserved for facing any rush, mechanical trouble and accident.
Highest rush of passengers expected on July 15, 16, 17 and 18 from Dhaka and July 21, 22, 23 and 24 from Barisal ends.
Passengers of private triple-deck water transports have to pay 20-25 percent increased special ‘festival fare’ on 161-kilometer long river route.
The one-way launch fare during Eid-special trip would be Tk. 1,200 for per first class single cabin seat, Tk. 2200 for Double, Tk. 6,500 for four seated VIP cabin, Tk. 3000 for two seated Family cabin, Tk.4500 for three seated Soukhin, Tk.800 per sofa and Tk. 300 per deck seat.
The rate was according to the fare-chart approved by concerned authourity, launch association sources said.
However Gopal Chandra Majumdar, assistant general manager in charge of BIWTC Barisal station, each passenger of BIWTC vessels in a single trip of the same route have to pay Tk.1050 for one first class cabin seat, Tk.630 for one second class cabin seat, equivalent to first class cabin seat of private vessel, and Tk.170 for each deck seat.
It is now open-secret that cabin tickets of private launch services during the festival vacations always ends fortnight before the starting special trip, but available from the ‘ticket blacker’s syndicate by giving almost 30-40 percent excess money, alleged Yasmin Sultana one of the cabin passenger.
Only ten percent cabin-tickets have been reserved for VIP passengers, acknowledged Reaz Hossain, Vice President of Launch Owners Association, Barisal office and owners of triple-deck ‘Suravi’ launch fleet.
