Eleven youths were caught red-handed by the local people while kidnapping a businessman in Manda upazila under Naogaon district.
The accused, including Sujan Kumar and Mehedi
Hasan, were sent to the court on Friday morning, Manda Thana Officer-in-Charge Abdur Razzak said.
The detainees were caught when they were fleeing by a microbus after kidnapping businessman Bazlur Rashid from Mithapukur Bazar of the upazila on Thursday, he said.
Locals spotted the incident and coordinated a successful rescue effort, the official said. They caught 11 people on the spot and rescued the businessman.
But the abductors said that Bazlur Rashid cheated them giving false promises of sending abroad. He took money from them but giving not return. “We nabbed him because of this.” In contrast, Bazlur rejected the abductors’ statement.
