Detective Branch of Police of Lalbagh Division under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested 11 members of the inter-district robber gang with foreign pistols and domestic weapons for holding passengers of various cargo transports and passenger microbuses or CNG as hostages.
The arrested have been identified as Md Sumon Chowkidar alias Sumon Mia, Md Mostafa, Md Arif Hossain, Md Palash, Md Karim, Md Hasan, Ripon alias Akash, Zainal Abedin, Md Omar Farooq Faisal, Russell and Md Hafizul Islam.
At the drive, 1 foreign pistol, 1 magazine, 2 rounds of bullets, 1 big dagger, 1 ramada, 2 chapatis, 1 pickup and 5 TCNG were recovered from the custody of the arrested.
On Monday night, DB Police arrested them along with a pickup after conducting a raid on the south side of Mitford Hospital’s water pump.
DMP Additional Commissioner of Police (Detective) Mohammad Haron Or Rashid, BPM (Bar), PPM (Bar) gave details in this regard in front of the journalists in a press briefing organized at DMP Media Center on Wednesday (27 July 2022) morning.
He said, the DB Police received news that robberies are often happening in Old Dhaka, Mitford, Sylhet Highway Road.
