At least 11 people including three of a family were killed and scores injured in separate road accidents in Chittagong, Bandarban, Sirajganj and Dinajpur districts on Monday.
Banglanews district and local correspondents reports: Three persons, including two minors, were killed in a road accident in Baro Aulia under Sitakunda upazila in the morning.
The deceased were identified as: Jahangir Alam Babul, 40, residing in Baro Aulia under Sitakunda upazila, his daughter Ananya, 10 and Jannat, 9, students of class III of Shishu Niketan School near Hafiz Jute Mills of the upazila.
Locals told banglanews that the accident took place when a Chittagong-bound truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw from back in the area at around 10:30am, leaving Ananya dead on the spot and injuring two others.
Later, both injured Babul and Jannat succumbed to their injuries on their way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Shaymal Kumar Dey, Officer-in-Charge of Baro Aulia highway police, confirmed the matter.
BANDARBAN: Road crash killed here a schoolboy on Monday morning, while 15 others were injured.
The deceased was identified as Midu Marma, 13, son of Dulau Marma, hailed from Kyathowai Marma Para under Naikkhangchari upazila of Bandarban district.
Sources said that Midu Marma died when a local human haular called Chander Gari plunged at Fashiakhali union under Lama upazila around 9:30am.
Locals told that Midu was a student of VI. At least 15 were also injured at that accident, who were rushed to local hospital.
Lama Thana Officer-in-Charge M Shahjahan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
DINAJPUR: Three persons including a couple died at Ramdubi area under Sadar upazila of the district around 8:00am.
The deceased were identified as Mokhter Hossain, 60, residing in Pakerhat village under Dinajpur’s Khansama upazila and his wife Jahanara Begum, 50, Rezaul Karim, 42, residing in Chirirbandar upazila of the district.
Kotwali Thana Officer-in-Charge Altaf Hossain said to banglanews that the incident took place at Dinajpur-Rangpur highway when a bus knocked the motorcycle carrying them, leaving dead on the spot.
SIRAJGANJ: Four persons were killed in separate road accidents here early Monday.
The deceased were identified as Rubel, 25, hailed from Fatullah under Narayanganj, Fazlu, 30, son of Jelo Mistri, residing in Sirajganj’s Tarash and two other unidentified persons.
Locals said to banglanews that at 3:45am Monday a truck collided head on with a pickup, leaving three persons dead on the spot at Hamkuria area under Tarash upazila of the district. Earlier, an unidentified person was died during crossing road in that area.
