At least 11 people were killed in separate road accidents in Dhamrai of Dhaka, Comilla, Tangail, Panchagarh and Gaibandha on Tuesday.
In Dhamrai, three ceramic factory workers were killed and 30 others injured when a bus carrying them plunged into a roadside ditch on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in the morning.
The deceased were identified as Jahanara, 30, Rawshanara, 28, and Archana Rani, 26, workers of Pratick Ceramic Factory in Dautia area.
Officer-in-charge of Dhamrai Police Station Abdur Rashid said the bus carrying workers of the ceramic factory from Nabinagar fell into the ditch after hitting a tree around 7:45am when its driver lost control over the steering, leaving Jahanara dead on the spot and 32 others injured.
Critically injured Rawsanara and Archana were rushed to Enam Medical College Hospital, Savar where doctors declared them dead.
In Tangail, three people were killed and three others injured when a truck rammed into a pick-up on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Postokamari in Mirzapur upazila in the early hours.
The deceased were identified as Saiful Islam, 40, pick-up driver, Abdul Alek, 22, and Shukur Mahmud.
Officer-in-charge of local Highway Police Station Jubyed Alam said the accident took place in the area around 3 am when the Tangail-bound truck from Dhaka hit the pick-up coming from opposite direction, killing the three on the spot and three others injured.
The injured were taken to Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital.
In Comilla, two people were killed when a truck rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Comilla-Sylhet highway at Mirpur in Brahmanpara upazila.
The deceased were identified as Sohagh, 22 of Bhelanagar village in Bancharampur upazila, and Mostafa Kamal, 30, of South Pundi village in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj.
In Gaibandha, two people were killed and 16 others injured in a collision between a bus and a truck on Dhaka-Rangpur highway at Panthapara in Gobindaganj upazila on Tuesday.
One of the deceased was identified as Abu Hanif.
In Panchagarh, a teenage boy was killed when an unknown vehicle ran him over on Boda-Debiganj road at Jamadarpara in Boda upazila in the early hours.
The deceased was identified as Jahangir, 15, son of Tajibur Rahman of the area.
