11 killed in different incidents

Eleven people were killed in different incidents on Tuesday across the country. Of them, three boys drowned in Dinajpur, two BRAC employees were killed in a road crash in Natore, three were found dead in Chittagong and a robber was killed in Jhenaidah.  
In Dinajpur, three schoolboys drowned in the Punarbhaba river at Bangibecha ghat in the district town on the day.
Witnesses said Kalu, 14, a class IX student of Chehelgazi Shikkha Niketan, Nayan, a student of Dinajpur Police Lines High School and Raj, 16, class X student of Dinajpur High School, drowned in the river while taking bath at noon.
On information, a salvage team of fire service from Rangpur rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies after four hours of frantic efforts around 4 pm. All the deceased were residents of Ghashipara Mahalla in the town.
In Chittagong, Police have recovered the bodies of a woman and her 5-year-old daughter from their home at the district’s Boalkhali Upazila.
Police said 35-year-old Shelly Shil was found hanging from the ceiling in her  
bedroom while daughter Antara Shil was found dead on the bed. Shelly was married to Asim Shil, who works as an assistant to a lawyer in Chittagong. The couple has another 8-month-old child.
Initial investigations suggest that the child was strangled to death, Boalkhali Police OC Md Salauddin told from the spot. He said that they suspect that the mother murdered the girl before committing suicide.
Quoting family members, locals said that Shelly locked herself in the room on Monday following an altercation with her husband. The mother and her two children remained in the room over the night. After hearing the 8-month-old crying in the morning, Shelly’s mother-in-law Sabita Shil managed to enter the room, only to find her daughter-in-law and 5-year-old granddaughter dead.
In another incident an unidentified man died in a road accident in Shakpura village under Boalkhali upazila of the district in the early hours of the day.
Police said the man about 50-year-old received serious injuries when a pickup van collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Choumuhoni area of Shakpura around 3.30am.
He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where doctors declared him dead, said Nayek Mohammad Hamid of CMCH police outpost.
In Jhenaidah, a notorious robber was killed in a lynch-mob attack at Gouripurnath village in Maheshpur upazila early the day.
Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Maheshpur Police Station, said local people caught Nazrul Islam Dakat,50, a resident of the same village, when he tried to steal a goat from a house in the village at about 4:30 am.
Later, the mob gave Nazrul a good thrashing, leaving him dead on the spot. Informed police recovered the body and sent it to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
In Pabna, an ‘outlawed party’ leader was chopped to death by miscreants at Bhainapara of Ataikula upazila in Pabna district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Ibrahim Hossain, 35, a regional leader of the banned Purba Banglar Communist Party and son of Mostafa Bepari of the area.
Quoting locals, officer-in-charge of Ataikula Police Station Abdur Razzak said a group of miscreants took Ibrahim to a mango orchard of Bhainapara village around 12:30pm and hacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.
Ibrahim might have been killed by his rivals over establishing supremacy in the locality, the OC added.
In the capital one dead body of a businessman was found at a hotel of Firmgate in city. The deceased was identified as Ashraf Uddin of Gazipur.
In another incident in Natore district two BRAC employees were killed by a road accident. The two were identified as Habibur Rahman and Ismail Hossain.
