Staff Reporter :At least 11 people were killed and 40 others were injured in separate road accidents in five districts, including Rajbari, on Sunday morning, police sources said.In Rajbari, five persons were killed and 40 others injured in a head-on-collision between two buses on Kushtia-Rajbari highway in front of Daulatdia Model High School in Goalondo Ghat in the morning, said AKM Nasir Ullah, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Goalondo Ghat Police Station.A Daulatdia ferry ghat-bound passenger bus from Kushtia collided with another Jhenidah-bound bus, leaving some 45 passengers injured, the OC said.Of them, Zakir Hossain, driver of the Kushtia-bound bus, died on the spot, while four of its passengers succumbed to their injuries on the way to Goalondo Ghat Upazila Health Complex, the police officer said.The severely injured 12 people were taken to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital, he said.In Barisal, three people, including a police constable, were killed as a bus driver lost control and rammed into an auto-rickshaw in Gournadi bus stand area of Gournadi upazila in the district.The deceased were identified as Jahid Hossain, 35, a highway police constable, Shahjada Sharif, 45, joint convener of upazila Swechchhasebok Dal, and Siraj Sarder, 50, a local vegetables trader, said Syed Mahbubur Rahman, OC of local Highway Police Station.The OC said, the driver of Benapole-bound bus lost control over the steering and ran over Jahid and rammed into the auto-rickshaw, leaving two people dead on the spot and another auto-rickshaw passenger injured. Later, the injured person died on way to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital.In Sirajganj, an unidentified rickshaw-van puller was killedwhen a goods-laden truck rammed him at Sayedabad under Bangbandhu Bridge West Police Station in the morning, said Helal Uddin, OC of the police station.He said that the truck was seized while its driver fled from the spot.In Bagerhat, a motorcyclist was killed in a road accident in Kachua upazila in the district. The victim was identified as Hasan Hawlader Babu, 28, police said. In Noakhali, a rickshaw-van puller was killed when a goods-laden truck rammed him in the Brick Field Bazar area in Hatai Upazila in the morning. The victim was identified as Dipok Kumar, 22, son of Mantu Kumar, inhabitant in the area.
