Bangladesh Coast Guard and fisheries department of Patharghata upazila arrested 11 people with 27 lakh fish fry during a raid at Kanthaltali union under Patharghata upazila of the district early this morning.
“Acting on a tip-off, a team of Coast Guard along with officials of fisheries department arrested 11 men with 27 lakh fish fry, including 25 lakh bagda fry in 50 drums and 2 lakh galda fry, stacked on 11 motorcycles early this morning, M Jamir Hossain, contingent commander of the Bangladesh Coast Guard of Patharghata station told BSS.
A mobile court headed by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Hussain Muhammad Al Mujahid released the seized fish fry into Bishkhali river and fined each of them Taka 11,000 for carrying fry illegally.
