108- MW power to be added in national grid from Ctg soon

The capacity of national grid of power supply will increase by more 108 megawatts from next month.
The newly constructed power plant at Kolagaon under Patiya upazila on the south bank of river Karnaphuli will generate 108- mw power from next month. The newly installed joint venture power plant named after Energypac Confidence Power Venture Ltd(ECPVL) .
The entrepreneurs of the power plant told that The New Nation that loadshedding is a regular phenomenon of Chittagong and to mitigate this alarming loadshedding , this plant is installed and hoped to serve the purpose to some extents. Sources said if the govt extends continuous cooperation to private power sector, the total power shortage across the country will go for ever.
Sources said, Engergypac Power generation Ltd and the Confidence group jointly constructed the power plant at a cost of Tk.800 crores over 7 acres of land in Kulagaon union of Patiya Upazila.
 Sources said an agreement over the constructio of power plant was signed by the ECPVL with Power Development Board in April 2012 .
 According to pact with PDB , this plant will supply the whole generation of power to national grid for next 15 years.
ECPVL sources said, the whole project was constructed with local technology and local engineers by the generators and other generating equipments have been imported from Norway.
 In the meantime, about 200 manpower including engineers have already been appointed in this project and expected to commission by next month. In the meantime, commissioning text of the plant already completed.
 Furnace oil and diesel for the plant will be used as raw materials of the plant and the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation has supplied first phase raw materials to this plant, sources said.
