In the fourth phase, 105 members of 21families belonging to two former Indian enclaves-Dohola Khagrabari and Doikhata-in Debiganj and Boda upazilas left for India on Thursday as they earlier embraced Indian nationality during the enclave swap between the two countries on August 1 last.
On completion of all necessary formalities, Mohammad Golam Azam, additional district magistrate of Panchagarh, handed over them with all necessary papers to First Secretary of Indian High Commission Roma Kanto Gupto at Debiganj Degree College ground 8:30am.
With the presence of Debiganj Upazila Nirbahi officer Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, three buses and five trucks, carrying the 105 ex-enclave residents and their belongings, left for the Chilahati Dangapara border in Domar upazila of Nilphamari district from the Debiganj Degree College ground, checking and loading point in Debiganj upazila.
After completing the immigration formalities at Abdur Rouf Primary School in Chilahati border area, the Bangladesh authorities will hand them over to the Indian authorities through Chilahati-Haldibari border.
In the first phase, 48 inhabitants, in the second phase, 147 inhabitants, and in the third phase, 152 inhabitants of 36 ex-enclaves left Bangladesh for India.
A total of 489 members of 98 families of former 36 enclaves in Panchagrh district decided to leave Bangladesh for India. Bangladesh and India officially swapped 162 enclaves on August 1, 2015.
