1,01758 to perform Hajj this year

The parliamentary standing committee on religious affairs on Thursday asked the religious ministry to remain alert and vigilant so that none could cheat any pilgrim this year.
The meeting also recommended for ensuring transparency and accountability in hajj activities, said a member of parliamentary standing committee on religious affairs yesterday.
The meeting also urged the concerned ministry to publish the names of 67 black listed hajj agencies in print and the electronic media in order to make probable hajj pilgrims alert about them.  
The member said, a total of 1, 01,758 Bangladeshis will be able to perform hajj this year as per Saudi government quota.  
Of them, 10,000 will perform hajj under the government arrangement, while 91,758 under the private arrangement, the member said.
The parliamentary standing committee on religious affairs held a meeting at parliament complex on Thursday. The committee chairman Bazlul Haque Harun presided over the meeting.
Committee members Aslamul Haque, AKMA Aowal Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin, Mohammad Amir Hossain and Dilara Begum joined the meeting.
Progress report on the ministry has been placed in the meeting. The meeting discussed the issues relating to hajj.
