10,000 pupils waiting for convocation at JnU

Jagannath University (JnU) started its journey in 2005 from Jagannath College. In the 17 years of its journey as a university, convocation has been held only once. The first convocation was held on January 11, 2019. More than 10,000 students are waiting for convocation in the last four years after conducting the first convocation.
It is known that the first convocation was held in 2019 after 14 years of establishment of Jagannath University. In the presence of President Abdul Hamid, 90,000 students celebrated the convocation in black gowns at Dhupkhola ground in Old Dhaka. After four years passed, but no new convocation was organized. According to the sources of the Controller of Examinations, partial students of the 2013-14 session of the university participated in the first convocation. The students of the year 2016-17 have completed their graduation. If the students of the 2017-18 session complete their graduation in December next, more than 10,000 students with graduation, post graduation, MPhil, PhD will be eligible for the convocation.
Former and current students have said that convocation is a must for university students. It is every student’s dream to celebrate in a black gown to receive their degree certificates after long studies and hard work. If the convocation is not organized on time this entanglement will be prolonged.
JnU Controller of Examinations A K M Aktaruzhaman said, “we are ready for convocation rules anytime. We start working on our target result and certificate policy.”
Vice-Chancellor of JnU Md. Imdadul Haque said that the presence of the President is important to organize the convocation. “There is a security issue here. We have asked for the President’s schedule. Once we get, we will organize the convocation as soon as possible,” he added.
