AL factions clash in Jhenidah: 100 houses of 45 families vandalized, valuables looted

Two groups of Awami League locked into a fictional clash over establishing supremacy at Gopalpur village under Kaliganj upazila of the district on Thursday morning.
At the time the supporters of ruling lawmaker vandalized at around 100 houses of defeated MP’s supporters and looted valuables worth around Tk one crore.
Locals and police said, there had been a long standing conflict between 3 No Gopalpur ward AL president Shariful Islam and the same ward AL secretary Malek Mollah on Thursday morning at around 6-30 am. Equipped with axe and iron bar the supporters of Malek Mollah attacked the supporters of Shariful Islam and vandalized at around 100 houses of 45 families. The attacked families left the house.
Malek Mollah is a Gopalpur ward AL secretary and the supporters of ruling lawmaker while Shariful Islam is an acting Neamotpur union member and defeated MP’s supporters.
The vandalized houses owners are : Malek Mollah, Shamser Ali, Elahi Box, Aktar Ali, Mizanur Rahman, Piston Ali, Jamat Ali, Afjal Hossain, Mofazzel Hossain, Sirajul Islam and Abdur Razzak including 45 families.
Malek Mollah told this correspondent over cell phone that he is a supporter of acting AL lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar. When ex-AL lawmaker Abdul Mannan was in power Shariful along with his supporters vandalized 150 houses and looted and took away the plant of solar electricity. Shariful filed four cases against me.
