Noman Mosharef :
About 100 officials of University of Dhaka (DU) applied for promotion using fake ‘Computer Skill Certificates’ though they have no knowledge about the computer operating system.
Meanwhile, few DU officials got promotions by using counterfeit computer skill certificates.
There is a provision in DU that officials need to have a computer skill certificates for getting promotion. Without proving the skills and having certificate the officials won’t get promotion.
Monir Hossain is one of those accused officials. He managed promotion by using a fake one-year computer course certificate. When he was asked to turn on the computer and show it, he got up and left.
Another officer Naina Ferdous has done a computer course. But when she has asked to come to her office for talks about it, she did not comply with.
Many such officers of DU got promotion with fake computer certificates, though many of them cannot operate computers. Hundreds of officers have applied for new promotions. Most of them have taken certificates from Aziz Super Market’s Karmayog Sangstha.
This reporter in Aziz Super saw a clothe shop. This institution winded up a year ago. They issued certificates without taking any class.
DU authorities say that the applications for promotion have been blocked with new fake certificates. The Vice-Chancellor assured to take strict action in these matters.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor M Akhtaruzzaman said, “Strict action will be taken in this regard as soon as possible.”
The law enforcement agencies have also been requested to take action against the organizations which issued fake certificates, he said.
