Communications Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday told the Jatiya Sangsad that 100 more double-decker and 50 articulated busses will be added to the existing fleet of BRTC soon.
Replying to a question from treasury bench member Md Rezaul Haq Chowdhury, the minister said these busses will be purchased under the Indian dollar credit line and the nagging traffic congestion in the capital is expected to be eased when the transports hit the city streets.
Obaidul Quader said during the 2009-2013 period of the grand alliance government, a total of 958 busses were collected from China, Korea and India. Of these buses, 530 were CNG-run single- deckers, 290 double-deckers, 50 articulated and 88 single-decker AC buses, he added.
