The 100-day countdown to ‘Mujib Year’ will begin across the country ahead of the celebration of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary.
Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Chief Coordinator of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee, said this recently after a meeting at the committee office at International Mother Language Institute in the city.
Dr Chowdhury, who chaired the meeting, said the event will be observed across the country, including the capital.
Bangabandhu’s Birthday on March 17 is also the National Children’s Day. On the day, various programmes including daylong art competition for children will be held across the country. The opening ceremony of the 100th birth anniversary and Mujib Year at the city’s Suhrawardy Uddyan will be broadcast live from the venue, Chowdhury said. The celebration programmes will include dissemination of historical information and photo display on Bangabandhu’s life and work, attractive illumination and fireworks.
The meeting gave necessary directives to the senior officials of all city corporations in the country, including the two city corporations in the capital, about the celebration.
