Much talked long waited verdict on 10-trucks arms haul of Chittagong announced by Special Tribunal Judge -1 Chittagong on Thursday. Tribunal judge announced two verdict in two separate cases related to the arms haul and arms smuggling. In the much talked verdict, 14 accused including Jamaat Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami and the former state minister for Home Luftuzzaman Babar awarded with death sentence in one case and the life imprisonment to 14 in another arms case.
Former Minister and Vice Chairman of BNP Abdullah al Noman and the city BNP President and former Minister Amir Khasru Mahmood Chowdhury instantly reacted over the verdict of the arms haul and they termed it as a political verdict. The expressed this view while contacted on them to know their reactions over the verdict. They said a number of persons were involved with the case motivated purely on political view and the verdict is also a political verdict.
Abdullah al Noman said the verdict that announced Thursday is a part of the harassment like political motive and innocent persons also involved with the arms case. BNP city President Amir Khasru said there is no laws of the land existing in the country and it is the example through verdict of the trial court.
