At least 10 people received bullet injuries in a clash between two rival groups over land dispute at village Bagirghat in Golapganj on Tuesday.
Abdul Jalil Lakus, member of ward 5 of Budhbari Bazaar UP, said Haji Asab Ali and Altab Hossain Asu of Bagirghat village had a long-standing land dispute.
He said Altab Hossain grabbed a portion of land of Asab Ali.
The clash ensued in the afternoon when Asab Ali and his men went to recover his land.
During the clash, Altab Hossain’s cousin Makhan Mia opened fire at the rivals, leaving 10 injured including Asab Ali and Naimuddin.
The injured were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Golapganj thana OC AKM Fazlul Haque Shiblee said the situation is now under control.
