10 people injured by a mad dog bite in Bhangura

At least 10 men and women were injured when a mad dog bit them in Bhangura of Pabna. The incident took place at Patharghata village in Parbhangura union of the upazila on Wednesday.
According to the locals,one unclaimed dogs in the village first ran after some goats and bit it. When they came to the rescue of the goats, three persons were attacked by the dogs. Seven more people were bitten by dogs on Wednesday afternoon. Among the injured are Abdul Chattar (60), Buruj (30), Nazir Uddin (45), Shaon (30), Bashiron Khatun (60), Mahatab Ali (50) and Kalyani Rani (60) of Patharghata village. All of them are poor.
Meanwhile, the injured were afraid when they came to know that rabies was caused by the bite of a mad dog.
Wounded Bachiran is a beggar by profession. She said that when she went to the doctor, he was advised to take three vaccines called rabipore. Each of which costs Tk.600 . But she is worried as there is no supply of the vaccine in the Upazila Health Complex.
UP Chairman Md. Hedayatul Haque said that the health complex authorities have been informed about the bite of the mad dog. At the same time, we have provided financial assistance to 2/3 injured poor people and made arrangements to purchase vaccines
Sanitary Inspector Abdul Mannan said that as there was no supply of the vaccine in the health complex, it was suggested to procure the vaccine free of cost from Pabna Municipality.
Meanwhile,the dog was reportedly beaten to death by the villagers on Wednesday night.
