A total of ten students of Islamic University (IU), Kushtia will get the Prime Minister (PM) Gold Medal for their outstanding academic results in honours examinations among five faculties of the university in 2015 and 2016.
University Grant Commission (UGC) finally selected them for the awards, said IU’s Academic Office Deputy Director M Hilal Uddin on the seventh instant.
The five students, who will receive the PM Gold Medal for 2015 are: Mahmudur Rahman of Al-Quran and Islamic Studies Department from Theology faculty, M Hafizul Islam of Politics and Public Administration Department from Humanities and Social Science faculty, Shimul Ray of Accounting and Information System Department at Business Administration faculty, Razba Khanom of Law and Muslim Jurisprudence Department at Law and Shariah faculty and Suman Biswas of Statistics Department from Applied Science and Technology faculty.
Another five students, who will get the Medal for 2016 are: Atikur Rahman of Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies Department at Theology faculty, Mithun Bairagi of Finance and Banking Department from Business Administration faculty, Sohrab Hossain of Law and Muslim Jurisprudence Department from Law and Shariah faculty, M Sayed Ahmad of Arabic Language and Literature Department at Humanities and Social Science faculty and M Abdul Alim of Mathematics Department from Applied Science and Technology faculty.
They will receive the medals from the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with another 254 students from other public universities at a function to be held in Dhaka, he said.
UGC introduced the Prime Minister Gold Medal in 2005 with the aim of
encouraging the students of the public universities in studying and
flourishing their talents.
