A trawler carrying 30 passengers capsized in the Shitalakkhya River in Sadar upazila on Friday after being hit by a cargo vessel, leaving 10 people injured.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station Manzur Quader said ‘ MV City-204’ hit the trawler in the Central Kheyaghat area on its way to the port area of the district at around 1:15pm. All the passengers of the trawler jumped into the river before it sank completely. Later, several boats roaming in the river rescued them. However, 10 of them sustained injuries. On information, a team of divers rushed to the spot and conducted a search.
