10 hurt in BCL infighting at CU

At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) over the alleged abduction of a leader on Chittagong University (CU) campus on Friday night.
Supporters of two groups-Ulka group and sixty nine group, both are shuttle-train based BCL groups, attacked each other and exploded crude bombs on the campus at, leaving 10 students injured, campus sources said.
The clash ensued between the two BCL factions at Zero point and Gate no 1 areas on the
campus around 10:30 pm after a news spread that Golam Rasul Nishan, vice-president of the defunct BCL committee, also belongs to Ulka group, was abducted from Lalkhan Bazar in the city, said Md Akhtaruzzaman, in-charge of CU police camp.
The Ulka group activists claimed vice-president of Sixty nine group Mansur Alam, Publications affairs secretary Iqbal Tipu and joint secretary Abu Torab picked up Nishan from the place around 10:30pm and released him 12:30 am.
However, Mansur denied the allegation and said , “We don’t know about the abduction incident and learned it from Facebook posts. If anyone blame on us, I must say it was done out of vengeance.”
