Some ten houses of a housing project were gutted as it caught fire from a snapped electricity wire in Garpinglai Housing Project under Fulbari Upazila in Dinajpur early on Sunday night.
The losses of the fire is nearly Tk 10 lakh . The affected families are living under the open sky.
It is learnt that, the fire started due to short circuits from the electric meter of Abu Taleb’s residence, house of No.3 in Barrack No.5 of the project. Fire broke out in 10 houses of the barracks. Residents tried not to protect their homes. As a result, 10houses of barracks were completely burnt to ashes.
Injured residents Saiful Islam, Nazrul Islam, Noor Jahan and Morjina Begum said that immediately after the fire, Birampur Fire Service was requested to come to the spot. After informing Fulbari fire station, they tried to control the fire after two hours of trying to get the fire under control.
