Customs officials seized 10 gold bars weighing 1.16 kg and worth Tk 50 lakh from the luggage of a passenger at Shah Amanat International Airport in the city on Sunday.
Shahadat Jamil, assistant commissioner of the airport customs, said Mohammad Faruk, a resident of Raujan upazila, arrived at the airport on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight ‘BG048’ from Dubai around 6:25 am. Later, customs officials recovered the gold worth Tk 50 lakh while scanning his luggage. They also seized his passport.
