At least ten journalists of Dhaka University came under attack by the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, on the campus on Monday evening.
According to eyewitnesses, an altercation took place between the journalists and the activists of Surja Sen Hall unit of Chhatra League over playing football at Mol Chhattar near the hall. At one stage, the BCL activists attacked the journalists that left 10 injured.
Among the injured are Galib Ashraf, joint secretary of Dhaka University Journalist Association, Monirul Islam, correspondent of Jamuna TV, Masudur Rahman of Somoy TV, Rafiqul Islam of Kaler Kanta, Md Masum of Boishakhi TV, Arafat Rahman Setu of Asian TV, Farhad Uddin of Bangladesh Pratidin, Reja Akash of Manab Kantah and Mahmudul Hasan of Banglnews24.com. Seven injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
