1 held with 4.2 Kg gold at HSIA

A team of Customs Intelligence seized 36 gold bars weighing about 4.2 kilograms worth around Tk two crore from the luggage of a passenger and arrested him in the capital’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Thursday. The arrested passenger has been identified as Khorshed Alam, hailed from Sitakunda in Chittagong, customs sources said.
Customs Intelligence Department’s Director General (DG) Moinul Khan confirmed the matter and said that a team of custom officials conducted a drive following a secret information and seized the gold bars from his possession. He came to Dhaka by a flight from Dubai around 11:330 am.
He is being interrogated and case will be filed against him, he added the, the DG said.
