UNB, Chandpur :A man drowned and eight others were injured as a sand-laden trawler sank in the Meghna River near Telir Mor in Haimchar upazila on Friday.The deceased was identified as Arshad, 50, who hailed from Mirsarai upazila of Chittagong district. The injured are now being treated at Haimchar Upazila Health Complex. Locals said, the Narayanganj-bound trawler, ‘MV Osman’, from between local Awami League leader ABM Mostakin and local Chhatra League leader SM Shahnewaz Dalim over establishing control over the area.As a sequel to that, followers of the duo, equipped with locally-made weapons, locked into a clash in the morning, leaving at least eight people injured on both sides.On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.Mostakin and Dalim blamed each other for the incident.
