1.92 lakh fined for adulteration in 3 N-dists

Mobile courts in separate anti-adulteration drives fined eleven business establishments with Taka 1.92 lakh at different places in Rangpur, Nilphamari and Kurigram districts this afternoon, official sources said.
In Rangpur city, a mobile court led by Executive Magistrates Litan Sarker, Moushumi Mannan and Abul Hayat and Deputy Director of RAB-13 Ali Reza Rabbi conducted anti-adulteration drives at different areas in the city.
The mobile court fined a vermicelli factory of Ahmed Traders at Kamal Kachhna area with Taka 80,000 and another factory of Sonu Ahmed in Robertsonsganj area with Taka 20,000 for producing vermicelli under unhygienic conditions.
The learned mobile court also sealed off the two factories and stopped further production of vermicelli violating the concerned laws, rules and regulations.
In Nilphamari, a mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Zobaer Hossain fined four business establishments in Syedpur upazila town with Taka 60,000 for producing ‘Lachcha’ vermicelli using substandard raw materials under unhygienic conditions.
The court fined Asha Bakery with Taka 30,000, Taza Factory 20,000, AMM Factory with Taka 5,000 and Akbar Food Products with Taka 5,000 during the raids.
District Sanitary Inspector of Nilphamari Ganesh Chandra Roy, Syedpur Upazila Sanitary Inspector Ahidul Haque and Inspector of Syedpur pourashava Altaf Hossain assisted the mobile court in conducting the anti-adulteration drives.
In Kurigram, the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection led by its Assistant Director Sheikh Sadi conducted anti-adulteration drives and fined five business establishments with Taka 32,000 for violating the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
During the drives, ‘Bogra Dodhi Bhander’ was fined with Taka 10,000, ‘Rajdhani Store’ with Taka 3,000, ‘Anada Semai Poribeshok’ with Taka 5,000, a grocery shop with Taka 4,000 and New Town Pharmacy with Taka 10,000.
