1.70 lakh Yaba tablets seized in Cox’s Bazar

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized some 1.70 lakh Yaba tablets from a fishing trawler in the Naf River in Teknaf upazila on Sunday.
It is the largest haul of sex-stimulating contraband tablets by the border guards.
Commanding Officer of BGB-42 Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Abujar Al Zahid said a fishing boat entered Bangladesh water territory from Myanmar crossing the zero line.
A team of paramilitary force challenged the boat in the river at Shahparir Island at around 11:45 am.Being challenged, the boat tried to speed away towards the Bay of Bengal.
As a BGB man fired a gunshot from his SMG, the boatmen and the drug dealers jumped into the river leaving behind the boat.
They swam and entered the Myanmar water territory, said sources at the BGB Headquarters in Dhaka.
Later, the BGB men recovered 1.70 lakh Yaba tablets worth Tk 5.10 crore kept hidden inside fishing nets.
The recovered Yaba tablets have been kept at the BGB battalion headquarters to demolish those later in the presence of senior BGB and narcotics officers.
