1.2 m shrimp pollen recovered, 20 traders fined in Barisal

A team of Coast Guard recovered 1,2 millions shrimp pollen ( Galda Renu Pona) worth Tk 20 lakhs and detained 20 shrimp pollen traders from fishing boats on Meghna river in Patarhut area under Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal on Saturday night.
A mobile court led by adminitrative magistrated Md. Qamruzzaman on Sunday fined 20 shrimp pollen traders total Tk 40 thousnd on Sunday noon.
Coast Guuard team led by contigent commander Anisur Rahman operating drives on Meghna river searching different fishing boats and trawlers found those shrimp pollens from three trawlers and detained those with twenty shrip pollen traders and handed over them to the mobile court, said Bimal Chandra Das, district fishery officer.
The fined pollen traders were Shahidul Islam, Shahid Shekh, Abdul Majid, Robiul Mallick, Bellal Uddin, Md. Sirajuddin, Ataur Rahman, Bachchu Sarkar, Russel Hossain, Mozammel Hossain, Anis Mallik, Md. Swapan, Khayer Uddin, Anisur Rahman, Nepal Sarkar, Russell Sarkar, Sultan Ahmad, Azahar Ahmad, Ali Adam Sheikh, Kamrul Islam.
The shrimp pollens were collected from different areas of Barisal region and sending to shrimp farms of Khulna region, the convicted said.
Catching of shrimp pollen restricted by fishery act to boost open water fish wealth and the recovered pollens later released on river, said fishery official.
