PJSC “ZiO-Podolsk”, a part of the machine building division of Rosatom-Atomenergomash, has manufactured and shipped a set of main equipment for the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP).
According to a message received here on Sunday, two tanks of the emergency cooling system of reactor zone (ECCS) and two high-pressure heaters PVD-K-5 and PVD-K-6 were sent to Bangladesh.
The equipment is designed for RNPP unit No. 2, having about 400 tonnes weight. The equipment has a 50-year service life.
The emergency cooling tank of reactor zone is designed for automatic supply of a boric acid cooling solution to the reactor core in the event of a coolant leak and is put into operation in the event of an emergency depressurization of the primary circuit.
The ECCS tank is an element of the passive part of the emergency cooling system of the reactor zone. The weight of each container is 78 tonnes, the message said.
It said high-pressure heaters PVD-K-5 and PVD-K 6 are elements of the turbine hall of a nuclear power plant and these are large-sized items from 9.5 to 12.5 meters long and weighing from 110 to 130 tonnes.
The high-pressure heaters PVD-K-5 and PVD-K 6 perform the function of heating the feed water supplied to the steam generator by cooling and condensing the steam taken from the intermediate stages of the turbine.
The JSC Atomenergomash is a supplier of all equipment for the reactor compartment and a significant part of equipment for turbine hall of RNPP with a VVER-1200 reactor.
The division’s enterprises manufacture reactors, steam generators, pumping and heat exchange equipment.
The RNPP is being designed and built according to a Russian project. The plant will consist of two power units with an electric capacity of 1200 MW each with VVER reactors of generation 3+.
