Zimbabwe scored 304 in their first innings against hosts Bangladesh on the third day of the second Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Tuesday. Zimbabwe needed more 19 runs to avoid follow-on.
Bangladesh can enforce to bat again or themselves bat in the second innings to extend the lead on the fourth day.
Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam bowled extremely well as he finished his superb spell on the 3rd day with 40.3-10-107-5.
Earlier, Bangladesh declared their first innings making a massive total of 522 for the loss of seven wickets on the second day.
Brendan Taylor hit a marvelous 110. His 194-ball knock had 10 fours. It was Taylor’s fifth Test century.
Zimbabwe resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 25 for the loss of one wicket.
Opener Brian Chari and Donald Tiripano resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 10 and naught respectively.
Tiripano could score eight on the 3rd day as he was caught at the first slip by Mehidy Hasan Miraz off Taijul Islam when Zimbabwe’s score was 40 for the loss of two wickets.
Brian Chari and Brendan Taylor repaired the early damage contributing together 56 runs inthe third wicket partnership before Chari was caught at the short leg by Mominul Haque off Miraz when Zimbabwe’s total was 96 for the loss of three wickets.
Taylor hit a marvelous 110. His 194-ball knock was belted with 10 fours. It was Taylor’s fifth Test century. Brian Chari made 53 from 128 balls featuring six fours and two sixes.
After Chari’s dismissal, Taijul cleanly bowled out Sean Williams for 11 when the African side’s score was 129 for the loss of four wickets.
Then Taijul bowled out Sikandar Raza (0) when the visitors’ total was 131 for the loss of five wickets.
After removal of Raza, Brendan Taylor and Peter Moor built a notable partnership. They put on together 139 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Moor was trapped leg before wicket by Ariful Haque when the tourists’ score was 270 for the loss of six wickets.
Moor notched up a superb 83. His 114-ball innings was laced with 12 fours and a sixer.

Seven-down Brandon Mavuta (0) was caught at the first slip by Ariful Haque off Miraz when the touring team’s score was 290 for the loss of eight wickets.
Number Eight batsman Regis Chakabva (10) was caught at the short leg by Ariful Haque off Miraz when Zimbabwe’s total was 304 for the loss of nine wickets.
Tendai Chatara could not bat as he was absent hurt and Zimbabwe’s innings came to an end.
